The Lighting Artist works under the Lighting Lead and CG Lead, and in conjunction with other team members, to assist in the creation of photo realistic lighting for multiple digital elements to match live action plates.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of photo realistic lighting of CG characters, organic, & structural environments, props etc.
  • Work within the colour & lighting pipeline.
  • Ensure downstream pipeline needs are considered & optimized for rendering.
  • Work with other team members to address internal and external notes.
  • Work within assigned hours and deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with internal tools, software and techniques.
  • Share knowledge and techniques with other team members.
  • Assist in overall team communication and contribute to positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within live action VFX in Generalist & Lighting role.
  • Proficient in Maya and VRay.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience using Maya and Vray in production setting.
  • Working knowledge of Nuke.
  • Thorough understanding of CG lighting principles.
  • Experience with full CG environments.
  • Experience matching digital lighting with practical photography/live action plates.
  • Experience with lighting digital assets using HDRI.
  • Understanding of colour space and how/when to apply.
  • Past experience in VFX within film and/or television.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through as well  as organized.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Open to receiving constructive feedback.
  • Experience working in a high pace environment.
  • Must showcase lighting and VFX experience with up-to-date reel.
