There’s an exciting new project we're working on at Zoic.  It's a stop-motion animated feature that we'll be working on thru into the Fall of 2025. 

For this particular show a great deal of Zoic employees assigned to the project will be working within our Zoic Vancouver Studios, in the Gastown Area (close to Waterfront Station Downtown).  Coming together as a team within our studio helps to create the excitement and positive work environment we want for this special project.  This position requires you to work in-studio full-time.

Summary of Position

The APM is responsible for the VFX department’s operational strategy, overseeing day-to-day operations and managing departmental staff. This position works with department leadership to identify work assignments, create reports, and manage resources. As the management representative for the department, this position works closely with Human Resources, Recruiting, Finance and Producers on all relevant matters. 

Job Functions

  • Own the schedule for two or more departments in partnership with department leads,. and build and maintain dependency-driven asset/shot schedules to ensure successful and on time release of work to the pipeline.
  • Collaborate with department coordinators and supervise their execution of the near-term (1-3 week) schedule. Oversee Coordinators' work as they track artist progress, updating task statuses, and start/end dates.
  • Facilitate team communication to provide transparency on asset/shot schedules, and ensure production priorities, objectives, and changes are properly comprehended and coordinated.
  • Supervise and mentor VFX coordinators on day-to-day operations including timely reviews, dailies, meetings, render priorities, notes, and database updates.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to track departments' target performance with the goal of meeting deadlines (through quotas, establishing performance standards, forecasting labor, non-labor needs, etc.).
  • Establish, adapt, and refine VFX production best practices and methodologies to enhance efficiency and departmental output.
  • Proactively identify problems and propose solutions for your teams before they become roadblocks, and communicate issues to leadership team(s) to reach solutions in a timely manner.
  • Act as cross-studio point of contact on behalf of VFX department regarding deliverables, as necessary.

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years' experience in a production management role in feature film VFX with strong understanding of live action VFX workflows.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with production tracking and asset management software, preferably ShotGrid.
  • Technical ability and knowledge to navigate systems for running reviews and various
  • Strong planning, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Organized and methodical in approach to work, with strong communication and follow through.
  • Adaptable and capable of re-prioritizing according to evolving project goals.
  • Calm and personable under pressure and when working toward tight deadlines within a production: driven environment.

Additional information

  • British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $35-45/hr (The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
  • Candidates MUST be located in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia.  This Role requires the candidate to work onsite, within our Vancouver Studio in Gastown.
  • Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
  • Any and all remote positions require the candidate to have a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
