Our Vancouver, BC location is currently seeking an FX Department Coordinator.

Summary of Position:

The ideal candidate will have previous VFX production and coordination experience, a good understanding of the VFX pipeline, specifically Dynamics & FX. They must be able to help organize a creative team and ensure shots are being tracked and delivered according to set milestones.  The FX Department Coordinator reports to the VFX Supervisor and Heads of Production.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Min. 2 + years of coordination experience on live action television and/or feature production.
  • Able to effectively use Shotgun as your primary note tracking & project management tool.
  • Experience with MS Office including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Experience in Hiero an asset
  • Understanding of Houdini and/or Maya preferred.
  • Must be organized and highly detail oriented.
  • Excellent communications skills in English; both verbal and written.
  • Able to manage different personalities within a shared department of artists.
  • Excellent prioritization/conflict resolution/negotiation skills to balance the resource needs.
  • Able to display diplomacy & level headed solutions oriented problem solving in all situations.
  • Track progress of assigned work.
  • Maintain a Gant Chart of resources needed over time and ensure communication to other departments.
  • Flag any resource conflicts and provide information and suggestions on how resources may be best allotted.
  • Keep Shotgun up-to-date for department notes and statuses, update calendars, schedules, notes, etc.
  • Participate in meetings as required and follow up on notes and action items.
  • Inform show producers and supervisor of the status of their effects. 
  • Inform HOPs and facility supervisors of department issues that are not show-specific.
  • Maintain current list of all task assignments (through Shotgun and other means.)
  • Make sure artists are aware of targets and ensure required material is available.
  • Manage render farm priorities: work with crew to establish render needs.
  • Submit OT requests for all department members for approval.
  • Ensure that performance management meetings are scheduled regularly between FX Supervisor and artists.
  • Act as a strong communication bridge between show production and assigned department artists.
  • Work with the FX Supervisor to ensure that shots/assets completed by your team meet the continuity and quality standards for the project.
  • Enable your team to meet internal and external deadlines within assigned hours.
  • Contribute to making the studio a positive work environment.
