Position Overview
Zoic is interested in hearing from Senior Houdini Character FX Artist for any future openings.
The Senior Houdini CFX Artist is experienced in all areas of character FX, proficient in Houdini, and has held previous positions within an FX or Character FX team. The CFX Artist will work together with the Asset team to determine the best artistic and technical approach associated with each character & creature.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient with Houdini Cloth and Hair.
- Create Houdini node networks for various CFX driven Items on characters and creatures (Vellum Cloth, Hair, Tetrahedral Softbody, FEM Solver).
- Confidence building CFX setups and running shots.
- Work closely with Groom Artists to solve technical challenges and adjust hair grooms to satisfy show requirements.
- Receive artistic request and translate it into a technically efficient digital scene
- Able to Quality Check cached geometry
- Identify, debug, and correct, any problems with cached geometry
- Ensure that all shot assets can be cached and put into the lighting pipeline
- Create workflows/tools/solutions for oneself and other team members
Experience Required:
- Minimum 3+ years of visual effects experience using Houdini
- 3+ years education in VFX with Houdini and 1+ years of professional visual effects.
- Experience with Houdini is a MUST.
- Experience running simulations on cloth and hair with vellum is a MUST.
- Knowledge of VEX and Python a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Experience in Houdini desired and prioritized - specifically Vellum
- Experience with vellum muscle animation/simulation is a plus.
- Experience with scripting languages is a plus.
- Experience with grooming is a plus.
Bonus - but not required
- Familiarity using Shotgun/Shotgrid
Additional information
- British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $45 - $60 (The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
- Candidates MUST be located in British Columbia. At the moment this is a remote 'work from home' position with the option of working within our studio.
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
- All remote positions require the candidate to have a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
